Dem Whip Check
Posted By Brian Patrick :: November 6, 2009

NOTE: Despite unemployment at its highest level since 1983, Speaker Pelosi continues to push her Caucus to pass a trillion dollar government takeover that will replace Americans’ health care. As of today, at least 69 Democrats have expressed opposition to the Speaker’s health care bill. As the bill comes to the House floor, how many Democrats will stand up and vote against a health care bill that raises taxes, cuts benefits to seniors, and spends money that families and small businesses across America cannot afford?

Good morning folks,

As Democrat leaders continue to whip for a government takeover of health care, sensible rank-and-file Democrats must be looking at today’s unemployment numbers and wondering what the leaders in their party are thinking. As the economy continues to hemorrhage jobs, moderate Democrats simply cannot support a tax increase on small business job creators.

Responsible Reform

In today's video news release, Republican Whip Eric Cantor discusses our nation's health care system.

Good morning folks,

Headlines this morning show that Democrats are out of sync with the American people who want fiscal responsibility restored in Washington, and don’t want a government takeover of health care. Republicans, on the other hand, have presented a fiscally responsible, incremental approach to health care that the CBO has said lowers health care premiums and increases access to quality care. As the health care vote approaches, will Blue Dogs listen to the American people or will they listen to their party leaders that are clearly out of touch. This afternoon Mr. Cantor will hold a pen and pad with Sen. Kyl at 2pm.

Good morning folks,

Despite what you might hear coming out the other side of Pennsylvania Avenue, those who downplay election results typically will lose the most. Democrats today find themselves in a situation that many in the chattering class thought unfeasible just a year ago, especially in a state like Virginia. Residents of the Commonwealth, like most Americans, are focused on jobs, deficit spending, and a responsible approach to strengthening health care – and they don’t like what they see from the Speaker Pelosi, Leader Reid and President Obama.

Good morning folks,

As Democrats force a mammoth overhaul of America’s health care system that will increase taxes on small businesses job creators, reduce benefits for seniors, and pile insurmountable debt upon our children, Republicans will offer a more responsible, incremental approach to improve our health care system in a way that controls cost and provides the quality of care that Americans deserve.

Good morning folks,

Yesterday Democrats unveiled their health care bill that registered in at whopping $1.055 trillion. Hours later, the CBO noted that the public option would not be the cheaper alternative that Democrats have continually promised. KERPLUNK.

McCain: Why we can -- and must -- win the war in Afghanistan
Posted By Brian Patrick :: October 28, 2009

...We must succeed in Afghanistan for many reasons, but one stands above all: the world walked away from Afghanistan once, and it descended into a cauldron of violence, hatred and human rights atrocities that served as the base for the worst terrorist attack in history against our homeland.

We cannot let that happen again, and we cannot let the Taliban and its al Qaeda allies conquer Afghanistan once more. Failure of this kind would also destabilize the entire strategically vital region, including nuclear-armed Pakistan.

We know what it takes to succeed in Afghanistan: a resolute commitment to the principles of counterinsurgency, which turned Iraq around during the surge.

I am confident that properly resourced counterinsurgency policy, adapted to the unique culture and geography of Afghanistan, can lead to success there. Our entire military chain of command supports this approach, as do our NATO allies, which they made clear at their recent defense ministerial meeting in Bratislava. ...
