ICYMI: Emmer leads Team Lawmakers to sixth consecutive victory in Congressional Hockey Challenge

WASHINGTON – Exchanging the House floor for an ice rink, Majority Whip Tom Emmer united Team Lawmakers to secure their sixth win in a row against Team Lobbyists at Tuesday night’s Congressional Hockey Challenge.

Over the last 15 years, the annual hockey game has raised more than $1 million for charities such as the Fort Dupont Ice Hockey Club in Washington, D.C., Capital Beltway Warriors Hockey Program, USA Warriors Hockey, the Tampa Warriors annual “22 hours of Hockey” event, and the Professional Women’s Hockey Players Association. A portion of this year’s proceeds will support the creation of an innovative new grant specifically aimed at empowering young, female athletes to engage with hockey.

Whip Emmer on this year’s Congressional Hockey Challenge:

“It’s the best hockey game that I get to play in all year. The sport and the game are celebrated, but it’s about something bigger than just the game. There’s no such thing as a Republican or Democrat when you get on the ice. No such thing. There are winners and losers, baby!”
